Buy Silver Coins Here
What is real money? I can give the Webster's dictionary version here: "something generally accepted as a medium of exchange, a measure of value, or a means of payment: as a: officially coined or stamped metal currency b: money of account c: paper money". My version is that money is that thing of value given to another party in exchange for something else of value, atleast to the parties involved. Sounds like the dictionary's version almost. So why didnt I just say that money is those greenish pieces of paper we carry around in our pockets with dead Presidents' faces on them? Because they are really not money at all. The key in both versions of our money definitions is the word, "value". Money has to have value, or what’s called "intrinsic value". This is value inherent in whatever is being offered as valuable. This is normally decided upon by many, many people over a long period of time, the ‘de facto’ standard. These peoples over a long time seemed to have chosen gold and silver as the preferred money. Our Constitution states that our money "shall be coined of gold and silver" as well. If you want to purchase real silver coin money, see the listings below:

[...] Gold gets most of the press and silver always seems to be in second place, and it will probably stay that way until we get to the blow-off phase of this precious metals bull market. During the panic buying phase or mania that accompany the blow-off phase, gold will be outside the price range of many people. Anyone seeking any protection from the destruction of the U.S. dollar will buy whatever they can, and that is silver. [...]

My own favorite silver coin to collect is the Morgan silver dollar that I particularly like because of its history in the US. I have a mixed collection of other types of silver dollars, but still favor the Morgan. As mentioned above, gold has for the most part, been a collector’s item more than silver. During the current economic melt down, gold was also purchased more, and still continues to be a leader.

A man should have any number of little aims about which he should be conscious and for which he should have names, but he should have neither name for, nor consciousness concerning, the main aim of his life.

I would like to hear some opionions on purchasing silver, gold on different platforms such as actual bullion, as in coins, individual stocks such as mining companies, or possibly mutual funds. I see numerous sites, but right now it seems a blend portfolio would be best, but were to start?

You can do an online search. Just google the type of coin and what year it is. They each have different values. You can also ask a dealer. I would go with the historic value. It is probably worth more. Then again, it does depend on each coin, the year, and the condition.
